He&#8217;s a Blotched Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum melanostictum) and can grow to over a foot in length.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing this adult Tiger Salamander is actually fairly unusual, as they usually make their homes in burrows as deep as 2 feet below ground. Young Tiger Salamanders are purely aquatic, but adults are wide ranging dry-land dwelling amphibians.
